Jeffrey H. Maki, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Radiology and Director of Body MRI at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Puget Sound VA Health Care Service in Seattle, WA. Dr. Maki graduated in biophysics from the University of California San Diego. Following this, he earned both his medical degree and PhD (biophysics with thesis in diffusion/perfusion MR) from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. He completed a medicine internship at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, WA. He then went on to complete a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, where he stayed on to complete a fellowship in cross-sectional imaging with an emphasis in vascular MR before moving to Seattle to become an academic radiologist specializing in body imaging.
Dr. Maki's research interests are focused on contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging, contrast agents, cardiac and vascular MR, and computerized image analysis and processing techniques. A frequent presenter at professional meetings both nationally and internationally, Dr. Maki has published more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals, the majority related to cardiovascular MRI. In addition to clinical work and research, he enjoys teaching on many levels, from one-on-one, to group CME settings, to web seminars and developing educational video programs. Dr. Maki is the co-author of 5 book chapters, and is an active reviewer for several radiology and MRI professional journals.
Certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Maki is also a member and Fellow of the Society for Computed Tomography and Body Magnetic Resonance, as well as a member of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.
